The New York City Council Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchises held a public hearing on November 16 2011 to consider an Admirals Row-related rezoning application by the Brooklyn Navy Yard. Brooklyn’s Other Museum of Brooklyn director Scott Witter testified in opposition and his testimony can be read at on page 56 of the transcript.
Subsequent to the hearing, Scott Witter sent the following letter which, among other things, points out to the Councilors that, since Admirals Row is federally owned, any such vote is meaningless.
Nevertheless in their wisdom, or perhaps ignorance, on November 29 2011 the Committee voted to approve the zoning change.
